Carla & Kurt Levendahl | Stellenbosch Wedding Photography
Some weddings stand out because of their beautiful styling, others because of their thoughtful little details and some simply because of the atmosphere they create. Carla and Kurt’s wedding was a lovely combination of elegance, romantic colours and timeless details.
I had the pleasure of photographing Carla and Kurt at Ou Stal Equestrian Farm in Stellenbosch. Their wedding styling featured gorgeous rose gold tones, delicate pink details, white decor and sparkling chandelier-inspired table decorations. The bridesmaids wore beautiful rose gold dresses while the groom and his groomsmen brought a lovely contrast with their grey and navy blue suits.
It was one of those colour combinations that worked beautifully together.
I always love looking back at wedding galleries because every couple has their own style. From the outfits and flowers to the reception decor and little personal touches, there is always something that makes each wedding unique.
This is what I love about Stellenbosch wedding photography. The beautiful Winelands surroundings provide a wonderful setting, but it is the people, their choices and all the little details that make each wedding gallery special.
Come along and take a look at Carla and Kurt’s wedding photographs!
A Beautiful Rose Gold Wedding Colour Palette
Rose gold was the main colour running throughout Carla and Kurt’s wedding styling. It is such a lovely colour for weddings because it has that little bit of sparkle and glamour while still feeling soft and romantic.
The bridesmaids wore beautiful rose gold dresses, which added warmth and elegance to the bridal party photographs.
The groom and groomsmen had a slightly different colour palette, with the groomsmen dressed in navy blue suits and Kurt wearing a grey suit with a blue under-jacket detail.
I loved how the different colours worked together. The navy blue added depth while Kurt’s grey suit helped him stand out from his groomsmen. The rose gold dresses brought everything back together, creating a beautiful balance between the warmer and cooler tones.
It is always lovely when couples choose colours that complement one another without everyone having to wear exactly the same shade.
For Carla and Kurt, the combination of rose gold, navy blue and grey created a sophisticated look that photographed beautifully.
When it comes to Stellenbosch wedding photography, I love capturing these colour combinations and little styling details. They help tell the story of the couple’s day and give their wedding gallery a consistent look and feel.
Carla’s Beautiful Bridal Look
Carla looked absolutely gorgeous in her wedding dress.
Her dress had delicate thin straps with beautiful lace detailing, giving it a soft and feminine appearance. It was elegant without being overly complicated and the lace details added just the right amount of texture.
Her hair was styled in a beautiful updo, which complemented the dress perfectly and allowed the delicate straps and lace details to stand out.
I always love photographing bridal portraits because there are so many little details worth capturing. From the full-length photographs showing the dress to close-up images of the lace and hairstyle, these photographs become an important part of the wedding gallery.
There is something timeless about a bride in a beautiful white dress. Trends and colours may change over the years, but those classic bridal portraits never really go out of style.
Carla’s look fitted the overall rose gold styling beautifully and made for some lovely photographs at Ou Stal.
One of my favourite things about bridal photography is being able to capture the dress from different angles. The little details that might seem small on the day can become some of the most treasured photographs when looking back at the wedding gallery years later.
The Groom and His Groomsmen
Kurt and his groomsmen looked incredibly smart in their wedding suits.
The groomsmen wore navy blue suits, while Kurt wore a grey suit with a blue under-jacket detail. It was a subtle but effective way of making the groom stand out while keeping everyone coordinated.
I particularly liked the contrast between the darker navy suits and Kurt’s lighter grey outfit.
When photographing the groom and his groomsmen, I always like getting a mixture of traditional group photographs and more relaxed portraits. You want those photographs where everyone looks smart and well presented, but also images that capture the friendships and personalities within the group.
These are the photographs that become part of the wedding memories, reminding everyone who stood beside the groom on such an important day.
Together with the rose gold bridesmaids’ dresses, the wedding party created a beautiful combination of colours that worked wonderfully with the overall styling.
It is these little differences in colour and styling that make bridal party photographs interesting. Everyone looks connected without looking identical.
Elegant Stellenbosch wedding photography Decor with Rose Gold Details
The reception decor was another highlight of Carla and Kurt’s wedding.
The tables were styled in beautiful white tones with rose gold accents and delicate pink details. One of my favourite features was the diamond-style chandelier decorations on the tables.
They added a lovely sparkle and brought a touch of glamour to the table settings without making everything feel too busy.
The combination of white and rose gold is always a beautiful choice for couples who want something elegant and timeless. The white keeps everything fresh and clean while the rose gold adds warmth and a little extra detail.
Looking through the photographs, it is lovely to see how the smaller elements came together to create the overall look.
Wedding decor is something couples spend so much time planning. From choosing the colours and table arrangements to selecting the finishing touches, every little detail helps create the atmosphere they want for their celebration.
And as a photographer, I love making sure those details are included in the final gallery.
This is also one of the reasons I enjoy Stellenbosch wedding photography. There is such a lovely variety of wedding styles throughout the Winelands, from simple and natural celebrations to elegant receptions filled with beautiful finishing touches.
A Little Welcome Drink for the Guests
Guests were welcomed with drinks and a lovely wine display.
There was a wine board featuring the words “Cheers to the Levendahls”, which was such a sweet personal touch.
I love details like this because they make a wedding feel a little more personal. It is a simple way of welcoming guests and celebrating the couple’s new shared surname.
It also made for a lovely little photograph in the wedding detail collection.
These are the kinds of details that might seem small on the day, but when couples look back at their wedding photographs, they help bring back all those memories.
Sometimes it is not the biggest decorations or most expensive details that make a wedding memorable. It is the little personal touches that make guests feel included and remind everyone what the celebration is all about.
A Two-Tier Wedding Cake with Rose Gold Elegance
No wedding reception is complete without a beautiful wedding cake, and Carla and Kurt’s cake fitted their colour palette perfectly.
Their cake had two tiers, with the bottom tier finished in a gorgeous rose gold colour and the top tier in classic white.
The combination was simple but elegant, tying in beautifully with the rest of the wedding decor.
Beautiful rose details and edible flowers decorated the cake, adding a romantic finishing touch. The flowers brought together the rose gold and white colours and made the cake feel like a natural extension of the wedding styling.
I loved how the two tiers contrasted with each other. The rose gold bottom tier added a little glamour while the white top tier kept the overall design soft and timeless.
Wedding cakes are always worth photographing before they are cut. They are often one of the main decorative features at a reception and couples put so much thought into choosing a design that matches their wedding.
Carla and Kurt’s cake was another lovely detail that completed their elegant rose gold wedding theme.
Delicious Food and Sweet Treats
Of course, there is always something special about the food at a wedding!
Carla and Kurt’s guests were treated to a selection of delicious food, including rice, pumpkin, a selection of potatoes, meats and fresh salads.
It was a lovely variety of dishes, with something for everyone to enjoy.
And then came dessert!
The dessert selection included ice cream and brownies or cake, which is always a wonderful combination. There is something about a little ice cream alongside a rich chocolate treat that makes for the perfect sweet ending to a meal.
Food and desserts are such an important part of any celebration. They bring everyone together around the tables and give guests another reason to enjoy themselves.
These little reception details also help tell the story of the wedding beyond the photographs of the couple and bridal party.
Photographing Weddings in Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch is one of those places that offers such a beautiful setting for wedding photography. With its Winelands scenery, historic surroundings and variety of wedding venues, it is a wonderful area for couples planning a celebration in the Western Cape.
Ou Stal Equestrian Farm in Stellenbosch was the location where I photographed Carla and Kurt. It provided the setting for capturing their bridal portraits, wedding party and beautiful reception details.
I love working with the surroundings available at each location rather than trying to make every wedding look the same.
Every couple has a different vision for their day, and every wedding gallery should reflect that.
My approach to Stellenbosch wedding photography is relaxed and natural. I enjoy capturing the important moments as well as the little details that couples might not even realise I have photographed. I want my Stellenbosch wedding photography to feel like memories rather than a collection of overly posed images.
Whether it is a beautiful bridal portrait, a photograph of the groom with his friends or a close-up of the wedding cake, each image has its place in telling the story.
Looking Back at Carla and Kurt’s Wedding and Stellenbosch wedding photography
When I look back at Carla and Kurt’s wedding photographs, what stands out is the beautiful combination of colours and details.
The rose gold bridesmaids’ dresses, navy blue groomsmen’s suits and Kurt’s grey suit created a lovely contrast. Carla’s delicate lace wedding dress and elegant updo completed the bridal look, while the white and rose gold reception decor brought everything together.
I loved the chandelier-style table decorations, the little wine welcome display, the two-tier wedding cake and all the thoughtful details that made their celebration special.
Photographing weddings is about more than just capturing the big moments. It is also about preserving the little things couples have chosen, the outfits they carefully selected, the flowers, the cake and all the details that make their day unique.
These are the photographs that allow couples to look back years later and remember not only how everything looked, but also how it all came together.
Carla and Kurt, thank you for allowing me to capture these beautiful memories for you. It was a pleasure photographing you both and being able to preserve these special moments.
I hope you enjoy looking back at your wedding gallery as much as I enjoyed photographing it!
