Joseline & Walter McDonald | Highberry Wine Farm Wedding
Some couples just fit. You know those people who seem to complement each other so naturally that you cannot imagine them with anyone else? That was exactly how I felt about Joseline and Walter. They are one of those couples who just make sense together, and being able to capture their wedding day was such a privilege.
Their Highberry wine farm wedding was everything a beautiful Winelands wedding should be. Think endless vineyard views, a bright blue sky, sunshine, gorgeous autumn-inspired colours, thoughtful details and two people who were clearly made for each other.
From champagne popping and jumping on the bed while getting ready to a beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking the vineyards, their day was filled with moments worth remembering. There was laughter, excitement, happy tears and plenty of fun along the way.
The colour palette was another highlight. Gold, coral, orange and brown came together beautifully, creating a warm and timeless look that suited the surroundings perfectly. With the vineyards stretching into the distance and the sun shining down on everyone, the setting was simply stunning.
Come along and take a look at Joseline and Walter’s wedding day through my camera lens!
Getting Ready for the Big Day
One of my favourite parts of wedding photography is being there for the getting-ready moments. Before the ceremony begins and before everyone takes their seats, there is a whole world of excitement happening behind the scenes.
Joseline and her bridesmaids certainly knew how to make the most of it!
There was champagne popping, laughter and even some jumping on the bed. It was one of those mornings where you could feel the excitement building with every passing minute. Everyone was getting ready for the big moment, but there was still plenty of time for fun and silliness.
I love capturing these moments because they show a different side of a wedding day. The formal photographs are beautiful, of course, but the candid moments often bring back the strongest memories. Years from now, Joseline will be able to look through her gallery and remember the laughter, the excitement and the wonderful people who surrounded her before she walked down the aisle.
A Highberry wine farm wedding like this one is about so much more than the ceremony itself. It is about all the little moments that happen before, during and after the vows.
And if there is champagne involved, even better!
The Bride and Her Bridesmaids
Joseline looked absolutely beautiful in her white wedding dress. The lace straps and stunning detailing across the bodice gave the dress a romantic, elegant feel, while the soft, flowy skirt added movement and a lovely sense of lightness.
It was the kind of dress that looked beautiful in photographs from every angle. The detailed top drew the eye while the flowing bottom created those lovely soft lines that work so well in bridal portraits.
Her bridesmaids wore coral and orange silk dresses, which added a gorgeous pop of colour to the day. The fabric had a lovely look and feel, and the dresses worked beautifully alongside the natural greens of the vineyards.
The contrast between Joseline’s classic white dress and the bridesmaids’ warm, vibrant colours was just perfect.
I especially loved how the colour palette carried through the entire wedding. Nothing felt out of place, and everything complemented the natural surroundings. The coral and orange added warmth, while the white, gold and brown tones brought balance and elegance.
It was a beautiful combination for a Highberry wine farm wedding, especially with the sunshine and blue skies we were lucky enough to enjoy.
Meanwhile, the Groom and His Groomsmen Were Having Fun Too!
Of course, the ladies were not the only ones having fun while getting ready.
Over on the groom’s side, Walter and his groomsmen were enjoying their own pre-wedding moments. One of the highlights was the guys giving Walter their five-second marriage advice just hours before he was about to say, “I do”.
Now, I can only imagine some of the advice that was shared!
There is something special about these moments between a groom and his friends. Weddings are emotional occasions, but they should also be fun. Those final hours before the ceremony are filled with excitement, jokes, a little nervous energy and the realisation that everything is about to change in the best possible way.
Walter looked incredibly smart in his darker brown suit, while his groomsmen wore lighter brown suits. The difference in shades worked beautifully, allowing the groom to stand out while keeping the overall look coordinated.
The brown suits were a fantastic choice for the setting. They complemented the vineyards and tied in with the gold, coral and orange colours used throughout the wedding.
Looking at the photographs, I love how polished everyone looked without losing that relaxed, natural feeling. It was the perfect balance between looking smart for the occasion and still being able to have a good laugh with your friends.
A Beautiful Vineyard Wedding Ceremony
There is something magical about an outdoor wedding ceremony, especially when the setting is surrounded by vineyards.
For Joseline and Walter, the ceremony took place on the grass between the vines, with the beautiful vineyard views stretching out behind them. The sky was a gorgeous blue, the sun was shining and the whole setting felt like something out of a fairytale.
It was a stunning backdrop for two people who were about to promise each other forever.
A Highberry wine farm wedding offers a wonderful opportunity to bring the natural beauty of the Winelands into the wedding photographs. The rows of vines, open skies and greenery create a setting that feels romantic without needing too much extra decoration.
For Joseline and Walter, the surroundings did so much of the work. The natural landscape framed the ceremony beautifully and gave their photographs that timeless vineyard feel.
As their guests gathered on the grass, the excitement built towards the moment everyone had been waiting for. The couple were about to become husband and wife, surrounded by the people who mattered most to them.
I always try to capture more than just the main events during a ceremony. There are the expressions on the guests’ faces, the little glances between the couple, the reactions of family members and all those small moments that happen while everyone is focused on the vows.
These are the photographs that help tell the complete story.
The ceremony itself may be one part of the day, but the emotions surrounding it are what make the photographs meaningful.
And with that beautiful vineyard view behind them, Joseline and Walter had the most wonderful setting in which to begin their marriage.
Wedding Portraits Among the Vineyards at Highberry wine farm wedding venue
Once the ceremony was over, it was time to capture some beautiful photographs of the newlyweds.
This is always one of my favourite parts of a wedding day. The nerves of the ceremony are behind the couple, the formalities are starting to settle and they finally get a little time together as newlyweds.
Joseline and Walter were such a lovely couple to photograph. They have that natural connection that makes portraits feel genuine. You can pose people in beautiful locations, but when two people are comfortable with each other and simply enjoy being together, it shows in their photographs.
The vineyard setting gave us a beautiful backdrop, with the greenery, open sky and natural light adding to the romantic atmosphere.
I love keeping couple portraits relaxed rather than making every photograph feel like a formal pose. Some of the best images come from a little movement, a shared laugh, a quiet moment together or simply asking a couple to look at each other and enjoy the moment.
After all, these photographs are not just about how the couple looked on their wedding day. They are about how they felt.
And that is what I want to preserve when I photograph a wedding.
For their Highberry wine farm wedding photography, the combination of the beautiful setting and their natural connection gave us a lovely variety of romantic portraits to remember the day by.
While we were busy capturing their photographs, their guests had the opportunity to enjoy some refreshments and delicious canapés.
A Beautiful Reception Filled With Thoughtful Details
After the ceremony and photographs, it was time for everyone to relax, enjoy the food and celebrate Joseline and Walter’s marriage.
The reception at Highberry wine farm wedding venue continued the warm colour palette, with gold, coral, orange and brown tones bringing everything together. The styling felt romantic and timeless, without taking away from the natural beauty of the surroundings.
One of my favourite details at Highberry wine farm wedding venue was the table decor.
Each table at Highberry wine farm wedding venue featured a wooden box containing vases with beautiful roses. There were white and orange roses, arranged in a simple and elegant way that worked perfectly with the rest of the decor.
I thought this was such a cute idea!
Sometimes, the simplest arrangements are the most effective. The wooden boxes added a natural element, while the roses brought a classic touch. The white flowers kept everything soft and elegant, and the orange roses tied in beautifully with the brighter colours used throughout the wedding.
The gold cutlery was another lovely detail. It added a little extra elegance to the tables and worked perfectly with the warm tones of the overall styling.
These are the details I always enjoy photographing because couples put so much thought into creating a look that feels personal to them.
A vase of flowers, a place setting, a little gift for a guest – each item becomes part of the bigger story.
When you look back at your wedding gallery years later, these photographs help you remember how everything came together.
A Beautiful Two-Tier Wedding Cake
Of course, we cannot talk about all the beautiful details of Joseline and Walter’s Highberry wine farm wedding without mentioning their wedding cake!
Their two-tier cake was such a pretty addition to the reception. It had a thin layer of frosting, giving it a soft, delicate finish rather than a thick, heavily iced look. The real showstopper was the gold detail running down the sides, almost as if the gold was dripping off the cake. It added a touch of glamour and tied in beautifully with the gold accents used throughout the wedding.
The cake was decorated with orange roses, white roses and little touches of green foliage. I loved how the flowers brought the wedding colours into the cake design, connecting it to the coral and orange bridesmaids’ dresses and the floral arrangements on the reception tables.
The combination of the delicate frosting, dripping gold detail and fresh-looking flowers created a lovely balance between elegance and natural beauty. It was a cake that fitted the overall wedding styling perfectly without feeling overdone.
I always enjoy photographing wedding cakes because they are often one of those details couples spend time choosing to match their vision for the day. From the design and colours to the flowers and finishing touches, the cake becomes another little part of the wedding story worth remembering.
And with its gold accents and beautiful orange and white roses, this one certainly deserved a place in Joseline and Walter’s wedding gallery!
Little Gifts to Say Thank You
Joseline and Walter also had thoughtful wedding favours for their guests.
Their thank-you gifts were coasters with the words, “Thank you for sharing our special day with us.”
I loved this idea because it was both personal and practical. It gave their guests a little keepsake to take home while expressing appreciation for being part of such an important day.
Wedding favours do not have to be extravagant to be meaningful. Sometimes, it is the simple things that leave the nicest impression.
The wording on the coasters was a lovely reminder that a wedding is not only about the couple. It is also about the family and friends who show up, celebrate with you and become part of your memories.
These small details helped make their Highberry wine farm wedding feel personal and thoughtfully planned from beginning to end.
Canapés, Cold Drinks and Delicious Treats
While we were taking the couple photographs at Highberry wine farm wedding venue, the guests were able to enjoy some refreshments and delicious snacks.
There were cold drinks, pastries, meats and fresh fruit, giving everyone something to nibble on while they mingled and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings.
I always love this part of a wedding day because it gives guests time to relax and catch up with one another after the ceremony. It is also a wonderful opportunity for those natural, candid photographs of people chatting, laughing and enjoying themselves.
A wedding day moves quickly, and while the couple are busy with photographs, the guests are making memories of their own.
Of course, no wedding celebration would be complete without dessert!
Joseline and Walter’s dessert selection included cheesecake, fresh fruit and ice cream. It sounded like the perfect sweet ending to a beautiful day, with a lovely mix of creamy, fruity and refreshing treats.
And let’s be honest, a wedding with delicious food and dessert is always a good idea!
A Wedding Day That Just Fit at Highberry wine farm wedding venue
When I think back on Joseline and Walter’s wedding at Highberry wine farm wedding venue, what stands out most is how naturally everything came together.
The colours suited the setting. The flowers complemented the decor. The bridesmaids’ coral and orange dresses looked beautiful alongside the brown suits. The vineyard ceremony provided a breathtaking backdrop, and the reception details added warmth and personality.
But more than anything, Joseline and Walter themselves made the day special.
They are one of those couples who just fit. There is something lovely about photographing two people who seem so comfortable together, who can enjoy the excitement of the day and still find moments to focus on each other.
That is the part of wedding photography I love most.
I get to witness these little pieces of people’s lives and preserve them in photographs. I get to see the excitement while everyone is getting ready, the nerves before the ceremony, the happiness after the vows and the laughter that carries through the celebrations.
And years later, when couples look through their galleries, they get to experience those memories all over again.
A Highberry wine farm wedding is already a beautiful setting for a celebration, but when you add a couple who are so clearly happy together, it becomes something truly special.
