Stellenrust Wine estate wedding

Alexzel & David Wagner | Stellenrust Wine Estate Wedding

Sending you wishes for a lifetime of love and happiness.

There is something incredibly special about a Stellenrust Wine estate wedding. Surrounded by vineyards, mountains and the peaceful beauty of the Stellenbosch Winelands, it is the kind of setting that naturally creates beautiful wedding photographs. Alexzel and David’s wedding was filled with soft romantic details, beautiful colours and plenty of little moments that made their day their own.

As a Stellenbosch wedding photographer, I love photographing weddings in the Winelands because every venue gives a wedding its own character. At Stellenrust, the vineyards and mountains create a beautiful backdrop, while the venue itself has an elegant atmosphere that works so well for both intimate moments and a lively celebration.

A romantic Stellenrust Wine Estate wedding

Stellenrust Wine estate wedding is surrounded by lush vineyards and the Stellenbosch Mountains, with views extending towards Table Mountain. The setting has a wonderful feeling of space and tranquillity, which made it a beautiful location for Alexzel and David’s wedding.

The Stellenrust wedding venue offers a spacious 330 m² function area with pine flooring, gothic chandeliers and a reed ceiling. The combination of the natural surroundings and the character of the indoor space makes it possible to create a wedding that feels elegant without losing the relaxed feeling of a Winelands celebration.

For Alexzel and David, the setting worked beautifully with their colour palette of pink, rose gold and white.

The reception tables were dressed with white tablecloths and pink runners, with rose gold details throughout the room. Candle holders and candle-filled glass pieces added warmth to the tables, while flowers, roses and greenery created soft centrepieces. The fairy lights added another layer of romance, especially as the evening began to settle around us.

It was the kind of styling that looked beautiful without feeling overdone.

Alexzel’s elegant wedding dress

Alexzel looked absolutely beautiful in her wedding dress. She wore an off-the-shoulder gown covered in delicate lace flowers, with a silky skirt that gave the dress a soft and elegant movement.

The lace detailing across the upper part of the dress added texture and interest, while her sparkling rose gold shoes were one of those little details that caught the light beautifully throughout the day.

And then there was the red lipstick.

It added a beautiful contrast to her soft white dress and gave her bridal look a confident, classic feel.

These are the details I love photographing during a Stellenrust Wine estate wedding. A wedding day is made up of so many individual pieces, from the dress and shoes to the flowers, stationery, rings and tiny details that might only be noticed once you look back through your photographs.

David and the wedding party

David wore a smart blue suit with a crisp white shirt, a pink tie and brown shoes. His pocket flower brought the pink from the wedding colour palette into his outfit, tying everything together.

The groomsmen followed the same general style, creating a cohesive look without making everyone look completely identical.

The bridesmaids wore beautiful rose gold and pink dresses, which worked perfectly with the reception styling and the natural colours of the Stellenbosch surroundings.

Together, the bridal party created a lovely combination of blue, pink, rose gold and white. Against the green vineyards, the colours really came alive.

Stellenbosch vineyards and wedding photographs

One of my favourite parts of photographing a Stellenrust Wine estate wedding is being able to make use of the vineyards and surrounding landscape.

We took photographs of the couple and bridal party among the vineyards, using the natural surroundings as part of the story rather than treating the location as simply a backdrop.

There is something about vineyard photographs that feels timeless. The rows of vines create natural leading lines, the mountains add depth to the images and the open landscape gives couples space to relax.

This is also where having an experienced Stellenbosch wedding photographer can make a difference. You do not necessarily need to spend hours posing for photographs to create a beautiful gallery. Sometimes it is about finding the right location, making small adjustments and allowing the couple to interact naturally.

I like a mixture of gently guided photographs and candid moments. Some couples need more direction while others naturally fall into their own rhythm. Every wedding is different, so I prefer to read the room and work with what feels comfortable for the people in front of my camera.

The cake and reception details

The wedding cake followed the soft colour palette beautifully. It was a three-tier cake with a textured icing style where some of the cake underneath remained visible, giving it a more natural and slightly rustic finish.

Pink and white real roses were placed across the cake as decoration, keeping it romantic without making it feel too formal.

The reception itself continued the pink, white and rose gold theme. Candles, flowers and greenery were placed throughout the tables, while rose gold details added a subtle shimmer.

As the light changed outside, the fairy lights around the venue added another beautiful element to the photographs.

A Stellenrust Wine estate wedding really lends itself to this transition from daylight into evening. You can photograph the couple among the vineyards during the day and then capture the warmth of the reception as the celebration continues.

Why I love photographing Winelands weddings

One of the reasons I enjoy being a Stellenbosch wedding photographer is that the Winelands gives me so many opportunities to tell the story of a wedding visually.

It is not only about the big moments.

It is Alexzel’s sparkling shoes.

The lace flowers on her dress.

David’s pink tie.

The flowers in the bridesmaids’ bouquets.

The light coming through the vineyards.

The couple laughing together when they think nobody is watching.

The bridal party enjoying themselves between photographs.

The candles being lit as the reception begins.

These small moments become important when you look back at your wedding gallery years later.

That is ultimately what wedding photography means to me. I am not only trying to create photographs that look beautiful on the day. I want to create a gallery that allows you to remember what the day felt like.

A Stellenrust wedding surrounded by the Winelands

Alexzel and David’s Stellenrust Wine estate wedding was a beautiful combination of elegant styling and the natural beauty of the Stellenbosch Winelands.

The soft pink and rose gold details worked beautifully against the green vineyards and surrounding mountains, while the blue suits brought a slightly stronger colour into the wedding palette.

From the bridal portraits to the vineyard photographs, bridal party images and reception details, there was so much to photograph throughout the day.

Stellenrust also gives couples the opportunity to celebrate surrounded by the scenery that makes the Stellenbosch area so special. The combination of vineyards, mountains, spacious surroundings and an elegant reception space makes the Stellenrust wedding venue a memorable setting for a wedding celebration.

And for me, that is what makes a wedding gallery worth looking back through.

It is not just a collection of photographs.

It is the dress you wore, the people standing beside you, the flowers you chose, the cake you spent so much time planning and the person you married standing next to you.

It is the little things you might not remember until you see them again.
