Hoogeind Manor wedding

Lucrecia and Anvor Fourie | Hoogeind Manor Wedding

A hundred hearts would be too few to carry all my love for you.

There is something incredibly striking about a Hoogeind Manor wedding, especially when the couple brings such a strong sense of style to their day. Lucrecia and Anvor’s wedding combined classic black and gold details with elegant wedding attire, beautiful food, a vintage wedding car and all the little moments that made their day completely their own.

As a Somerset West wedding photographer, I love photographing weddings where the setting becomes part of the story. Hoogeind Manor has that kind of atmosphere. The Cape Dutch architecture, gardens, vineyards and surrounding mountains create so many different places for photographs, while the venue itself has a timeless character that works beautifully with an elegant wedding.

A Hoogeind Manor wedding with timeless black and gold details

Lucrecia and Anvor chose a sophisticated black and gold colour palette for their Hoogeind Manor wedding. It was a combination that worked beautifully throughout the day without feeling overdone. Black runners were placed across the tables, paired with black plates and gold cutlery, creating a dramatic but elegant table setting.

The centrepieces were lifted above the tables, giving the flowers their own space while keeping the table settings open for the guests at Hoogeind Manor wedding venue. Small details throughout the reception continued the black and gold theme and brought everything together.

One of the details I particularly loved was the thank-you gift for their guests. Each person received a heart-shaped keyring with the words “Thank you for sharing our special day.” It was a simple little keepsake, but exactly the kind of detail that makes a wedding feel personal.

A beautiful wedding dress and a classic black suit

Lucrecia looked absolutely stunning in her mermaid wedding dress. The gown featured delicate embroidered floral details along the straps, with lace detailing continuing throughout the dress. The fitted silhouette and long veil created such an elegant look, and it photographed beautifully.

Anvor kept things classic with a black suit, white shirt and black bow tie. The contrast between his formal black suit and Lucrecia’s detailed white gown created some gorgeous portraits of the two of them together.

This is one of the things I love about wedding photography. You can spend months planning colours, dresses, flowers and decorations, but eventually all those details become part of the photographs that take you back to the day.

The vintage Volvo that stole some attention at the Hoogeind Manor wedding venue

One of the fun parts of this Hoogeind Manor wedding was the wedding car. The couple had a beautiful classic black Volvo, and we made sure to spend some time creating photographs with it.

There is something about an old car at a wedding that immediately gives photographs a different feeling. The classic shape, black paint and timeless styling fitted perfectly with Lucrecia and Anvor’s elegant wedding look.

We managed to create some really beautiful photographs with the car, giving the couple something different from the usual wedding portraits. It became another part of their story rather than simply being the car that brought them to the venue.

A wedding venue surrounded by the beauty of Somerset West

Hoogeind Manor is situated just outside Somerset West in the Helderberg area, surrounded by the scenery that makes this part of the Cape Winelands so special. The venue has views towards the surrounding mountains, vineyards and gardens, giving couples plenty of opportunities for wedding photographs.

For me, a Hoogeind Manor wedding is particularly enjoyable to photograph because there are so many different elements to work with. You can photograph the architecture, gardens, couple portraits, bridal details and reception all while keeping the images connected to the character of the venue.

The setting also gives the photographs a sense of place. Years from now, when Lucrecia and Anvor look back at their wedding gallery, they won’t only remember what they wore or what their tables looked like. They will remember where they were and how the day felt.

Traditional South African wedding food

The food was another part of this wedding that really stood out to me. It had that wonderful feeling of proper South African home-style wedding food – hearty, familiar and made to be enjoyed.

There was broccoli salad with nuts and other ingredients, steak-stuffed pumpkin, vegetables and other traditional dishes. It was the kind of food that felt comforting and generous, exactly what you want when everyone is gathered around a table celebrating together.

Sometimes it is the little things like this that become part of the memories of a wedding. The food, the people sitting around the table, the conversations between courses and everyone coming together to celebrate the couple.

Why I love photographing weddings like this

Every wedding is different, and that is one of the reasons I have loved being a wedding photographer for so many years. I never want every gallery to look exactly the same because every couple has their own story, personalities and little details that make their wedding theirs.

With a Hoogeind Manor wedding, there is already such a beautiful backdrop, but it is the couple who gives the photographs their meaning. Lucrecia and Anvor were wonderful to photograph, and their connection came through naturally in their photographs.

I like to give couples enough direction when they need it while also allowing space for genuine moments to happen. Some couples are completely comfortable in front of the camera and others need a little more guidance. There is no single formula that works for everyone, so I read the room and work with the couple in front of me.

That is also why I don’t believe wedding photography should only be about perfectly posed photographs. The carefully planned portraits are important, but so are the laughs, the quiet moments, the details, the people and all those things that happen in between.

Your Hoogeind Manor wedding deserves to be remembered

Your wedding day goes by incredibly quickly. After months of planning, suddenly the flowers are being packed away, the last song has played and everyone is heading home.

What remains are the memories and the photographs.

That is what makes wedding photography so special to me. I am not simply photographing a dress, a cake or a beautiful venue. I am creating a visual story that you can return to years later.

A Hoogeind Manor wedding gives you a beautiful setting, but your photographs should still feel like your wedding. The little details, the people you love, the way you looked at each other and even the unexpected moments all become part of that story.

Lucrecia and Anvor’s wedding was filled with elegant details, a beautiful black and gold theme, delicious food, a gorgeous vintage car and two people who were simply wonderful to photograph. It is exactly the kind of wedding gallery I love creating – one that tells the story of the whole day rather than showing only the highlights.
