Some weddings stay with you forever and the wedding of Bernelee and Hein at DuVon Wedding Estate will always be one of those weddings for me.

As a photographer, there are weddings that are beautiful, and then there are weddings where absolutely everything comes together perfectly, the couple, the atmosphere, the décor, the family, the emotion and the energy shared between everyone present.

This was one of those weddings.

To this day, it remains one of my personal top three weddings I have ever photographed.

From the moment the day began at DuVon Wedding Estate , there was a feeling of excitement and warmth surrounding Bernelee and Hein. The kind of atmosphere where you immediately know the day is going to be emotional, joyful, and unforgettable.

A Romantic Wedding at DuVon Wedding Estate

The wedding took place at the breathtaking DuVon Wedding Estate, surrounded by vineyards, mountain views and the peaceful beauty of the Cape Winelands.

DuVon Wedding Estate is more than just a wedding venue, it is a family-owned working farm rooted in years of history, care, and connection to the land. Still home to vineyards and fruit trees, the estate is owned by Armand du Toit and his uncle, Alex von Klopmann, who have preserved the beauty and heritage of the farm while creating a space where couples can celebrate life’s most meaningful moments.

Managed daily by Armand and his wife Laura, the venue carries a calm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately makes people feel at home.

One of the things I loved most while photographing this wedding was how naturally the venue blended elegance with warmth. Nothing felt overly formal or staged. The estate allowed the day to flow naturally while still feeling incredibly refined and romantic.

The vineyards, open landscapes, mountain views, and reception spaces created the perfect setting for Bernelee and Hein’s celebration.

Bernelee & Hein — Effortless Together

Some couples naturally bring out the best in each other and Bernelee and Hein were exactly that kind of couple.

There was a quiet ease between them throughout the entire wedding day. They laughed constantly, stayed close to each other naturally and never seemed distracted by the pressure or timeline of the day.

As a photographer, that kind of connection is always special to witness because it creates photographs that feel real rather than posed.

The way Hein looked at Bernelee throughout the day said everything without needing words.

And Bernelee carried such a beautiful balance of elegance, confidence and emotion that made every moment photograph effortlessly.

A Wedding Filled With Colour and Beauty

One of the most unforgettable parts of this DuVon wedding estate celebration was the incredible floral styling and colour palette throughout the wedding.

The décor featured rich and romantic tones of:

The bridesmaids wore beautiful maroon dresses, while the groomsmen balanced the styling perfectly with crisp white shirts and blue pants. Hein’s blue suit brought everything together beautifully and added such a timeless, elegant look to the day.

The floral arrangements by Alsmoi were absolutely stunning and added so much softness and texture throughout the venue.

Bernelee’s bridal bouquet was honestly one of my favourite bouquets I have photographed. The flowers added life and vibrancy to every space without ever overpowering the natural beauty of the venue itself.

Everything felt intentional, romantic and beautifully balanced.

The Emotion Throughout the Day

Beyond the beautiful styling and venue, what truly made this wedding unforgettable was the emotion shared throughout the day.

Their family and friends brought such warmth and joy into every part of the celebration. There was constant laughter, emotional reactions during the ceremony and genuine happiness from everyone surrounding the couple.

It never felt like people were simply attending a wedding.

It felt like everyone was fully present in celebrating Bernelee and Hein as people and as a couple.

As a photographer, those emotional connections are always what matter most to me.

Looking back at the wedding of Bernelee and Hein, what stands out most is not only how visually beautiful the day was, but how deeply connected everything felt.
